Football & Finances

Football & FinancesFootball season kicks off tomorrow and people all over the country are preparing to cheer their team on to victory. No matter what happened last season, every team starts with a clean slate and a future of endless possibilities. When it comes to your finances, you may have had a fumble or two in the past, but it’s never too late to kick-off towards a new financial future.

TOUCHDOWN

A team’s goal is to win the game and they achieve that by scoring touchdowns. So what’s your financial touchdown? Maybe it’s paying off your student loans, buying a first home, or that Caribbean cruise you’ve been dreaming about. Whatever your ‘touchdown’ may be, have a clear end-game in mind and you’re sure to score.

PLAYBOOK

Now that you know what you’re headed towards, you need to find a way to get there. Teams have a playbook so that all of the players and coaches are on the same page and know what their job is during each play. Without one, the game would turn into chaos. Establish your goal and create a plan to get into the end zone.

FUNDAMENTALS

It’s important to remember the basics, no matter at which level you are competing. Whether that’s creating a budget, starting a savings account, or building credit, your financial future is dependent upon the foundation that you are building now.

ADJUSTMENTS

Even the best coaches know that, sometimes, even the most thought out game plan won't work and adjustments need to be made in order to win the game. The same can be said for your finances. If something isn’t working or you find yourself struggling, switch it up. A budget is supposed to work for you, not the other way around.

TEAMWORK

Regardless of how good they are, a quarterback can’t go out on the field by themselves and win the game. Here at Cyprus, we want to ensure that our members are receiving the best coaching and teamwork possible so they can score some touchdowns and win their game.
