Make the Most of your CommuteFor many, the commute to and from work is a necessary grind. However, there are steps you can take to make sure you are getting the most of out of that time whether you’re driving, on the bus, or on the train. Here are some tips to help you take advantage of your commute.

GET INTO A ROUTINE

The more structured your morning routine is, the more likely you will be able to take advantage of your commute.  Choose your clothes, prepare lunches, and have your keys and wallet ready to go before you go to bed. When your morning routine is less rushed, you’ll be able to relax more in the morning and focus on what you need to get done during the day.

MAKE LISTS

Make a list of all the things you need to accomplish that day. Prioritize this list by importance so as soon as you get to work, you know exactly what you need to get started on. If you aren’t driving, it may helpful to write this list down so you have a visual reminder.

LEARN SOMETHING NEW

Listen to an audio book or podcast about a topic you’re interested in and would like to learn more about. With so many options available, you’re bound to find something that fits both your commute length and your interest level.

BE READY

Even the most organized person runs into issues every now and then, such as an accident that causes an unexpected traffic jam. If this happens, text or email your supervisor or co-worker that you may be running late. Even just letting someone know that you are on your way can help alleviate some of the stress that comes along with being late.
