Making the decision to put a loved one into some type of long-term care program can be a difficult decision.  Whether it’s a nursing home, assisted living, hospice, etc., one of the major aspects of this decision is the financial impact. Here are some costs associated with long-term care in the state of Utah of which you should be aware.

ASSISTED LIVING

Assisted living is focused on providing a safe environment for seniors to be independent but provide assistance where it is needed. On average, you can expect to pay around $3,000 a month for this type of service.

NURSING HOME

A nursing home is the next step up from assisted living for those who may need a higher level of supervision. For a private room, the average cost in 2018 was $7,604. For a semi-private room, the cost will fall to about $6,000.

HOME HEALTH CARE

Home health care provides services and care in the person’s own home. It can be split into two categories: Homemaker Services, which provides help with household chores such as cooking & cleaning and Home Health Aid will provide personal care to those who can’t take care of themselves. For both of these services, you can expect to pay around $4,000 a month.

ADULT DAY HEALTH CARE

Adult day health care provides care and assistance during the day when caregivers are not able to. On average, you can expect to pay about $1,000 per month for this type of service.
