Towards the end of your day, make a list of the three most important things you need to accomplish the next day in order of priority. Place this list somewhere you’ll see it first thing the next morning, such as on your bedside table or computer at work. Keeping this list short will help you keep the big stuff at top of mind and won’t overwhelm you with unnecessary stress.
Splitting your focus between several projects at once may actually be slowing down your productivity as well as decreasing the quality of your work. Focus on one project at a time. If you have several projects you need to get done, set a time limit for each one during the day and only focus on the one during that time period.
It can be easy to push the least desirable item on your to-do list to the bottom. However, by getting these tough tasks out of the way early, you can then focus on the tasks that are easier or more enjoyable to you as the day progresses.
The likelihood of being distracted is increased when you’re trying to accomplish a task in an unorganized or chaotic space. Taking the time to organize everything at the end of each day, whether that’s cleaning up or your desk at the end of the workday or making sure there are no dishes in the sink before you go to bed, will allow you start each day with a clean slate, making it easier to concentrate.
